How to convert an image
Open your images
Drop files or a folder, paste a screenshot, or tap Open image. Mixed formats in one batch are fine.
Pick the new format
Choose JPG, PNG and WebP. Only formats this browser can really save are offered, and any that need a one-time download say how big it is.
Save the converted files
Save each file with its new extension, or the whole batch as a zip. The extension always matches what is really inside the file.
FEATURES
What this page does
Many formats in
JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO, SVG and TIFF open in every current browser; HEIC opens in Safari.
JPG, PNG and WebP out
Pick quality, or a size limit in KB, and optionally a new pixel size. All of it happens in one pass.
Real formats, checked
Some browsers quietly save a PNG when asked for another format. Image Studio checks every file it writes and uses its own encoder where the browser falls short.
Convert in bulk
Convert a mixed folder to one format, with names kept and a zip or folder save at the end.
Which format should you save as?
Each format is good at one kind of picture. A quick guide:
| Format | Best for | Transparency | Compression |
|---|---|---|---|
| JPG | Photos for email, forms, print and older software | No | Lossy |
| PNG | Screenshots, logos, text, anything with sharp edges | Yes | Lossless |
| WebP | Photos and graphics for websites | Yes | Lossy or lossless |
Saving WebP in Safari
Safari can show WebP images, but its canvas can’t write them: ask it for a WebP and it silently hands back a PNG instead. Image Studio checks the type of every file it creates. In Safari, WebP output uses a WebP encoder that is part of this site and loads once, the first time you need it.
That is also why the format list on the page may differ between browsers. It shows only what will really work where you are, and says when a format needs that one-time download.
GIF, SVG, TIFF, BMP and ICO
Older and specialist formats open here and convert to modern ones. An animated GIF opens as its first frame. An SVG is drawn at its own size, or you choose one if the file doesn’t say. TIFF scans and BMP screenshots open with a built-in decoder, and ICO icons open at their largest size.
HEIC photos from an iPhone open in Safari, which reads them natively. Other browsers can’t read HEIC yet; on an iPhone, Settings › Camera › Formats › Most Compatible makes the camera save JPG instead.
Is it really private?
Format conversion is a natural fit for the browser: decoding and encoding images is what browsers do all day. Here the work happens in a worker inside the tab, with encoders that are part of this site’s own files.
Converted files carry no metadata from the original unless you ask for it, so a converted photo doesn’t leak where it was taken.
You don't have to take our word for it. Three checks:
- Open your browser's developer tools, choose the Network tab, then open and save an image. No request carries your file.
- Open an image here once, then turn on airplane mode and run the same job again. It still works, because nothing needs a server.
- Read the page's response headers: its Content-Security-Policy lets it connect only to this site itself, so there is no outside host a file could go to.

Frequently asked questions
Which image formats can I convert?
You can open JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO, SVG and TIFF in any current browser, and HEIC in Safari. You can save as JPG, PNG and WebP.
How do I convert PNG to JPG?
Open the PNG, choose JPG and save. If the PNG has a transparent background, it is filled with white, or a color you pick, because JPG has no transparency.
Can I convert JPG to WebP for my website?
Yes. Choose WebP; the result card shows how much smaller each file is than the JPG. Every current browser displays WebP.
Can I convert HEIC photos?
In Safari on a Mac, iPhone or iPad, yes: Safari reads HEIC natively. Other browsers can’t read HEIC yet. On your iPhone you can set Camera › Formats to Most Compatible to take JPG photos instead.
Does converting reduce quality?
Saving as PNG keeps every pixel. Saving as JPG or WebP compresses again, which removes a little detail; at the default quality it is hard to see. The compare view lets you check at 100% or 200%.
Can I convert many images at once?
Yes, including a folder of mixed formats. All files are converted to the format you pick, and saved as a zip or into a folder.
