How Image Studio works

STEP 1

Drop, paste or open

Drag images or a folder anywhere onto this page, paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V (⌘V on a Mac), or tap Open image. On a phone, pick from your photo library.

STEP 2

Choose what to do

Compress, resize, convert or clean metadata, or several of them together. One photo opens with its result straight away; two or more open as a batch.

STEP 3

Save the result

Save to your device, copy as a PNG, or share from your phone. A batch saves as one zip, or straight into a folder in Chrome and Edge.

FEATURES

What Image Studio does

ONE APP

Meet Image Studio: one app behind every tool

Every page on this site opens the same app, Image Studio, already set up for that page’s job. The compress page opens on a before-and-after view; the WebP to JPG page already has JPG chosen. Everything else stays one click away under More options, so you never have to move to another page halfway through.

Behind the scenes, each job is a short recipe: crop, size, format, quality or size limit, and metadata. The recipe runs on your original once, at full resolution, when you save. Changing your mind costs nothing, because nothing is applied until then, and the photo is only compressed one time.

Several jobs in one pass

Most image chores are really three or four jobs in a row. Getting a phone photo ready for a listing might mean cropping to 4:5, scaling to 1080 pixels wide, keeping it under 300 KB and removing the location. Done in separate tools, the photo is decoded and re-compressed at each step, and quality drops a little every time.

Image Studio runs the whole chain as one recipe, so the photo is decoded once and encoded once. The same recipe then works on one file or on a folder of five hundred, and the batch summary tells you the total before and after.

Made for phones as well as computers

Image Studio works on iPhone and Android, not only on a desktop. Open image goes straight to your photo library. Results can go back through the share sheet to Photos, Messages or a nearby device. Buttons are large enough for a thumb, and the image stays visible while you change settings.

Phones have less memory than computers, and iPhones and iPads limit the size of a single canvas to about 16.7 megapixels. When a photo is bigger than that, the page tells you before it starts and offers a smaller copy, instead of crashing halfway.

What it doesn’t do

Being clear about the limits saves you time:

  • It doesn’t fetch images from a link. Open a file from your device instead; that is also what keeps the privacy promise structural.
  • Animated GIF and WebP files open as their first frame.
  • Camera RAW, PSD and PDF files don’t open; export a JPG or PNG from the app that made them.
  • HEIC photos open in Safari only for now. On an iPhone, Settings › Camera › Formats › Most Compatible saves JPG instead.
  • Images are processed at 8 bits per channel and saved in sRGB color.

Is it really private?

Most online image tools send your file to a server, process it there and send it back. Here the decoding, editing and encoding all happen in your browser, in a worker inside this tab. The site serves the app and its encoders as ordinary files, and after that it has nothing to do with your images.

There is no account, no analytics on your files and no copy kept anywhere, because no copy ever exists outside your device.

You don't have to take our word for it. Three checks:

  1. Open your browser's developer tools, choose the Network tab, then open and save an image. No request carries your file.
  2. Open an image here once, then turn on airplane mode and run the same job again. It still works, because nothing needs a server.
  3. Read the page's response headers: its Content-Security-Policy lets it connect only to this site itself, so there is no outside host a file could go to.

Frequently asked questions

Are these image tools really free?

Yes. There is no paid tier, no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. Because your images are processed on your own device, there is no server cost per file to pass on to you.

Do my photos get uploaded anywhere?

No. The tools run in your browser, and the page’s security policy only lets it connect to this site itself. You can check in your browser’s developer tools, or by running a job with airplane mode on.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Image Studio runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on computers and phones. You can add it to your home screen if you use it often.

Can I edit many images at once?

Yes. Open several files or a whole folder and one recipe applies to all of them. Each file shows its own result, and the batch saves as a zip.

Which formats can I open and save?

You can open JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO, SVG and TIFF, and HEIC in Safari. You can save JPG, PNG and WebP.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, on iPhone, iPad and Android. Very large photos on an iPhone or iPad are offered as a smaller copy first, because those devices limit how big a single image can be in memory.

Does it work offline?

After your first visit, yes. The app and the encoders you have used are kept by your browser, so you can open the page and run a job with no connection.

Is there a photo editor too?

Yes, in the same app. Open a photo and choose Open in editor for light and color adjustments, filters, arrows and text, redaction, screenshot frames and watermarks. Cropping, rotating and flipping are also inside every tool under More options.
